Audio Systems: Xterra factory cd player, electronic repair shops, nissan xterra

Question
I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra that just had a new drive belt and air hose installed at the dealership.  When I got it back the CD player doesn't work.  The radio is fine.  There is a cd in the player now and it won't eject.  Is there any way the work done on the car could have caused this?

Answer
Allison,

doubtful unless the mechanics had the battery un hooked and let it arc that could have burnt the cd motor but that is very unlikly one specfic thing would burn out and not the whole thing .. most common is just normal wear will cause the cd player to malfunction , about getting the cd out some aftermarket unti come with a small piece of bent wire that is used for cd hang ups but some small gauge wire might help you extract it but you risk damaging the cd and the player but if you are going to buy a new one i would save my cd... but if your heart is set on keeping the factory unit you might take it out and swing by a few local small electronic repair shops to see if they can get the cd out and take a look to see what the problem is if you can get one to fix it *if its fixable* most of the time it takes a large hunk of change thats why i recommend buying a new aftermarket setup .. but if you need anything else let me know

thanks
