Audio Systems: Carver 2x120 amplifier, output transistors, dc voltage

Question
I got this amp used.  It powers on and there seems to be no physical sign of damage inside or out.  My problem is that I am not able to get any sound from the speakers.  When I use a different amp with the same wiring it works fine.  It's a problem with the amp, not the wiring.  It is not worth the repair costs to fix so I was wondering what I can do to fix it myself.  What would be the most common piece to replace on the main board?

Answer
Hello Marty,
Any number of problems in the amp can cause no sound output. You have to first determine if the power output transistors or modules have the required DC voltage on them to operate. Also check to see if any of the output transistors or modules are shorted out. If this amp uses transistors in the audio output section and just one is shorted out the amp will shut down.
