Audio Systems: jvc car stereo repair question???, car stereo repair, audio amps

Question
Hey,
I just got two stereos that seem to have the same problem and I've completely taken apart both and cannot find the problematic element. Both were hooked up to amps and now that they have been removed from the amp, there is no sound coming from any of the channels. I have heard that this problem happens often so I figure that you will probably know what is wrong. If so, could you please explain how to fix them.
Thank you very much!!!

Answer
Hello Jamie,
I have seen this before on many stereos. If the remote control lead is used to power something up that draws too much current it will burn up the small power switch transistor that switches the 12 volt power to the remote amp on lead. when this transistor burns up the main audio output IC's will be in a constant muted condition. The problem may also be that the audio amps are defective. Please give me the model number of these stereos so I can check to see if I have a schematic for them.
