Audio Systems: Car Stereo Repair, car stereo repair, removable face plate

Question
I spilled soda on my Alpine CDM7874 after market, in dash, cd player/stero. It still works, but several of the buttons stick and often act as if I am holding down the button. It has a removable face plate and I was hoping to clean it somehow. Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Answer
Tim,
Without having to take the faceplate apart you can try to clean it up by using a very soft brush. Simply hold the faceplate with the buttons facing down and wet the brush with warm soapy water and lightly scrub the button areas. Use clean warm water to clean up any soap that is left on the faceplate and then with the buttons down still, wipe dry with clean soft rags. After you wipe it down give the faceplate a couple of shakes to drive out any liquid left behind. I have used this clean up methode for many years, saves alot of time by not having to dissassemble the faceplate unit. Don't use the faceplate until it sits in a warm area for a few hours to completely dry up any water that may have got into the circuit board.
