Audio Systems: RF changers, kenwood cd changer, rf unit


Question
I have a kenwood cd changer that uses the RF....It has been very staticy on the correct frequency...I have not been able to determine why this is....any ideas?

Hello Mike,
The static may be due to a loose connection in the RF wire. I have found that in a few of these RF modulators, defective solder connections on the output board. A quick test for this is the good old Tap test. Put your CD changer on play and then use a plastic handled screw driver and lightly tap on the RF box to listen if the static gos away. The problem may also be due to a shorted Rf output wire or maybe the RF output section in the RF unit is weak?
