Audio Systems: 94 nissan maxima bose system, bose system, nissan maxima

Question
hello Tom, how's it?  well to the point then, i would like to know your thoughts on a bose stereo in my 94 nissan maxima that cuts out.  when it does work it sounds good.  if you hit the dash it will come back on sometimes.  i have tried the nissan dealership, but they want me to send it in to the factory, and the price to fix it may be as much as a complete new system.  All car stereo shops i have been to say the same thing "Bose, rip it out and start again"  or that there may be an adaptor that will make the after market head unit compatible with the bose system, but nobody knows where to get it or if it really is a good product.

i really appreciate your time, i hope i have been clear enough.

*the radio lights come on and it works sometimes
*the tape player works sometimes
*at times there is a very special high pitched noise but this seems to be possibly a different
problem altogether as it has just recently started happening, and the other problem has been an issue for quite a while
*when you hit the dash it will come back on but not for long
*antenna works
*my husband has checked the fuses

thanks again

Lea

Answer
Hello Lea,
Bose entertainment systems in automobiles are in my opinion the best sounding systems around. When you asked other stereo shops about your problem, of course they are going to tell you to "rip it out" because they make their money by selling you a new system. I repair many of these units for local car dealers and it seems with your radio it just has a defective connection/s, when you mentioned that if you hit the dash the radio would work again. If you would like information on having your radio repaired at my service facility, please contact me direct at: tdeser@zoominternet.net
