Audio Systems: no sound from rear speakers, rca cables, toyota 4runner

Question
i installed 2 amps in my truck today.(84 toyota 4runner). one to power my sub, and the other to power my 2  6x9s. the amps are getting power but i get no sound.  however my door speakers still work however they are not hooked up to any amp.  i used rca jacks to run the amps.  the door speakers are just powered by the deck speaker wires.  please let me know whats wrong and what i need to do to fix the problem. thanks

Answer
Jim,

ok i will give you a run down of how the wiring should go and you can play off of that .. the amps need 3 wires to power up ..  12volt directly from the battery passed through fuses and the RMS/Turn-on/12Igntion/accsory wire and a ground wire to give them power ... to get them sound you need a RCA cables.. since you have 2 amps .. you either need 2 preouts from your head unit or you need splitters .. ok you have power and sound to your amps .. to give juice to your component speakers you need to disconnect them from your head unit .. tie the wires up and run NEW wires to and from the 6x9's to the amp ... then they should be powered .. and the same for the subs .. i have a site that can help you with your guess work on your subs

this should help you out .. if you need anything else let me know

thanks
