Audio Systems: head unit turns on and off, car audio shop, loose power

i have 99 explorer sport.when i hit a bump or sometimes for no reason my head unit turns on and off with no memory loss.if i have a cd playing it also progresses. any idea?your help is greatly appreciated.thank you

This kind of problem is symptomatic of a loose power wire, although it usually doesn't happen with CD players. But that doesn't mean it won't happen. You would have to take the CD player out and make sure all the wires are solidly connected. If you don't know how to remove the dash piece to get the player out, then I would recommend visiting your local car audio shop or dealership. Some dash panels are tricky to remove and easy to break so the last thing you want to do is break the dash piece when trying to get to the deck. I hope this helps.
