Audio Systems: head unit turns on and off, removable face plate, station memory


Question
whenever i hit a bump and sometimes for no reason at all my head unit turns on and off. there is no memory loss and if a cd is playing it progresses further.any help on this would be greatly appreciated.thank you.

Hello Todd,
By what you mentioned about hitting a bump and the radio will turn off, I would say that somewhere you have a defective connection. This defective connection/s may be in the wiring or it could be inside the radio? Double check all your connections to the radio and if you have a wire connected directly to the battery like some installers do, check that for tightness. The power wire that may be giving you this problem is the switched/ignition wire to the radio, since the station memory isn't effected.
