Audio Systems: car radio stopped working except for one channel, lincoln town car, antenna cable

Question
My radio stopped working on am and can only get NPR or one other channel {sometimes) on fm.  I can be driving down the road and it will start working, but only one channel.  Is this an antenna problem?  My car is a 1998 Lincoln town car.  The radio worked perfectly until this last year.

Answer
Mary,

i really need some more information say if it has a tape player/cd player and if it works or cuts out like the radio .. if tape/cd work fine and the radio just cuts out its one of 3 things .. its the antenna , antenna cable , or the actual tuner inside the unit .. pull the unit out and check to make sure the cable is plugged securly in the back on the radio and give a good inspection of the harness as well just as a precaution .. now its hard to make a positive on a bad antenna unless its broken or damaged so give it a good visual inspection .. if nothing pans out * and the most likly problem * is the tuner which can be fixed by swaping out the unit with a new aftermarket * best value and performance * or a replacement factory radio * expensive * i have alot of questions about the lincoln town car from 93-98 of radio problems so its not uncommon to have to replace the unit .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
