Audi Repair: Audi A-6 Torque Converter Codes, throttle position sensor, torque converter

Question
Hi,

I was getting a check engine light @ 64K miles for torque converter.  Today I tried a complete flush and fill of the transmission system.  However, the first time I went on the highway, the check engine light came back on again, I'm assumming more torque converter codes.

What codes should I be on the look out for?  What are my options? Will I need a replcement torque converter and if so how must is that going to cost me?

Help....very worried!

Answer
64k miles is pretty low mileage for a torque converter.  Has anybody ever added the wrong fluid to the transmission?  I would get this checked by at least three transmission shops, please do this because in my experience these transmission 'specialists' typically don't diagnose, they quote a rebuild for $2000 for most problems.  After I received a daignosis like that ($1800) from AAMCO once, I went to another guy who found a throttle position sensor plug disconnected.  The repair cost me nothing...  SO get mutliple quotes.  In your case you are getting a code but the drive is not affected?  This could be simply a sensor wiring problem or a computer communication issue.  I'm not saying ignore the light, but make sure the person who checks it out is thinking sensor fault as well as transmission issue.  Let me know,  Jan
