Audi Repair: audi a4 1.8 turbo 95/96 model, auto electrician, intermittent problem

Question
Hi ive been battling a problem with my new audi which keeps blowing fuel pump fuses. About 17 so far and is always when cruising between 80 - 100k on flat road no obvious faults have been found by audi dealer or an auto electrician. electrician re wired main power cable with seperate fuse carrier (no)!! pump has been replaced by audi after that assusumed faulty under warrenty as only replaced 6 months before. (no)!! now at third place who deals with performance cars and is reputable and is testing conditions on dyno hasn't made it blow yet as he was testing pressures etc: i think. have only had car for a month and still being looked at. frustrating any answers..?? if there is any one with same problems and has some answers i would appreciate any.

Answer
It sounds like there is a short somewhere in the wiring.  Since it is an intermittent problem, it is difficult to find.  What other accessories does this fuse power?  I have not heard of a typical problem associated with the fuse for the fuel pump blowing, so I'm afraid this one has to be chased down manually.  Check for wires integrity where they go through panels, and verify the insulation is intact.  Good luck,  Jan
