Audi Repair: Front passenger door jammed, audi a6, positive solution

Question
Hi there, i was wondering if you could help me with a very annoying problem. I've got a Audi A6 on a 1999 plate and the front passenger door does'nt open from inside or the outside. When operating the central locking the door pin trys to come up. When operating the inside door handle the pin comes up but then retracts back down as soon as the door handle is released.
I've read about a few owner's having the same problem and resulted in damaging the door panel to get in to the door mechanism. As mines trimmed in leather I don't want to consider destroying the door card and can also imagine it costing a fortune to replace from Audi.
I cant see any other way of removing the door panel whilst the door is closed. Any help would be greatly appreciated as i really can't see much positive solution to this problem at the moment.

Answer
Hi,

This is worth fiddling with for a while, unlocking and re-locking etc, but there may be a point where you have to start seriously getting into the door panel if you cannot get it to open one more time.  First locate a replacement door card.  If you get it open, do not close the door but take the door panel off...  Good luck,  Jan
