Audi Repair: Audi A4 Alarm fault, audi a4, thanks in advance

QUESTION:  When i remote lock the car the alarm light should flash fast then slow down, it flashes fast then stays solid lit then flashes slow, i've now checked the manual and it says there is a problem with the alarm, any help as to get it back to normal. Thanks in advance.

ANSWER: The best way to diagnose this is to use a VAG-COM and read out codes from the alarm unit.  It sounds like some sensor is not switching properly, which causes the alarm to not set correctly.  Does it ever go off?  Let me know,  Jan

QUESTION: Hi- yes the alarm goes off after about 1 hour...What is a VAG-Com?...If I open the trunk thats the only way it will reset.So could it be the trunk sensor??Thanks Lee.

A VAG-COM is a communication/interrogation program which allows the error code to be read out of each of the modules.  I would check the tailgate sensor, ensure that the lights are switched off; check any switches like glovebox, etc so that there are no battery drains continuing after the alarm is set.  Good luck,  Jan
