Answer
Hi Bill,

well there could be two possibilities, either there's a consumer that is not switching off and draining the battery or the battery it self is faulty and not holding the charge.

start off with a battery drain test, you will need a digital multimeter set to the correct Amp range, switch off all the consumers and close the doors, except the driver door, for the driver door, leave it open and use a screw driver to lock the door so that the contact is closed but the door is open,
then disconnect the negative terminal and connect one probe of the multimeter to the negative terminal and the other probe to the negative cable, i.e. in series.

switch on the multimeter and read the current(in amps), after which wait 1 hour (some control units take about an hour to go into 'sleep' mode)after an hour read the amps off the meter, it should be zero, if it is not then that shows that there is a consumer that is not shutting down, to find the correct circuit, go to the fuse box and disconnect one fuse at a time while looking at the meter, when you get to the correct circuit and disconnect the fuse the meter reading will show zero, then depending on the circuit find the fault and rectify it. also note if the alarm is armed then there will be a slight reading on the meter. (do not arm the vehicle when doing this test)

As for the battery you will need a battery tester, they are easy to use and take about 5 mins to detect a faulty battery.

another way to check the battery is to disconnect the terminals(and thereby disconnect all the consumers) and leave the vehicle for around 24 hours, then reconnect the battery and try and crank the vehicle, if  it doesnt start then the battery it self is faulty and drained on its own.

As for your other question No the windows are not supposed to open when the key is out and the door opened.this could indicate a faulty convenience module, close the vehicle and arm it, then look the warning light on the drivers door, it should blink, if it stays permanently on then that probably shows a faulty convenience module(located under the front passenger foot well under the carpet in a black plastic casing) and could be the cause of your battery draining too!!

if you need to change it then please note that you will need to reprogram the remote on the keys as the memory for them is in this unit, and if doing any work that involves removing the battery please  have the radio code ready as you might need to input it again.
