Audi Repair: Audi A4 door contact activation for dome light, 2007 audi a4, audi a4

i just got a 2007 audi a4 avant.  i was wondering why the dome light would turn off after 5 seconds.  i read the manual and it said that the dome light should turn off 30 seconds after the doors have been closed if the interior light switch is at door contact.  mine does not do that.  it turns off after 5 seconds.  i would really appreciate some advice.  is that something that can be adjusted?

Hi,  The lights are controlled by a relay, and the time delay is most likely a function of an edjustment internal in the relay.  I just checked my 2001 S4 Avant, and the lights switch off after about 12 seconds.  Never really paid attention to it before.  To get a different time probably the relay needs to be replacd, since normally you cannot get into the relay itself.  The relay is more than likely located underneath the dash, you will need to remove the lower dash panel to get to it.  I am curious though; why is the length of time it stays on important to you?  Let me know,  Jan
