Audi Repair: 1997 Cabriolet - check engine light, mint condition, 7 months

Question
I am thinking about buying this car, but the owner told me that the check engine light comes on every few weeks , stays on for a day or a week and then shuts off. He has had it to the dealer on numerous occasions and have found nothing....I don't know what codes it sends but....Should I keep looking at this car...it is in mint condition and has been extremely well cared for by an executive.

do you want 11 years old car??? It up to you but all parts for this thing are not cheap.
A good friend of mine bought 98 A8 in perfect condition, I look at this car too before he bougth it, Car run like new  and he was very happy until 7 months letter Trans went bad. A dealer gave him to options, rebuild the Trans  and get 1 year/12K warranty or get new one with 3 year warranty. The new one was almost what he paid for the car!!!!!!!!!!!. 4 weeks latter he sold the car with bad Trans for 1/4 what he paid for --8 months before.
So, you do want you want.
