Question
where is my thermostat located and can I replace it myself? If so how do I replace it?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Joao,

If you don't mind me asking why do you want to replace the thermostat??
Have you confirmed it is faulty?? when the vehicle is at normal operating temperature touch the 2 pipes coming out of the radiator, they should both be hot, if only one is hot then the thermostat is faulty.

The thermostat is located under the timing belts on the Right hand side (viewed from driver seat)

As for the job it self it involves removing the front bumper, moving the radiator carrier in front then removing the belts and finally the thermostat housing. You will have to ensure that the timing of the crankshaft and camshaft is returned to the same position it was removed from or you run the risk of damaging the valves and/or pistons. the easiest way to do this is to mark the pulleys and again a reference mark on the engine so that they can be returned to that position when reinstalling. also the direction that the belt travels MUST NOT be reversed or it might break. Put an arrow with a marker/chalk so that you can return it in the same direction.

after the belts have been returned turn the engine by hand 2-3 times to ensure the valves are not touching the pistons.and that the timing marks return to the same position after 2 turns.

then install the rest of the things in reverse order.
