Audi Repair: back window separated from convertible top, a4 cabriolet, car insurance company

Question
I own a 2005 A4 Cabriolet. The back glass on the convertible top has separated, which we found out after a recent rain storm. Water from the recent rain storm leaked into the interior of the car and destroyed the electronics that are located under the seat. Since we are past the 50k mile warranty, Audi won't cover it. We purchased an extended warranty but that doesn't cover it either. This repair is going to cost approx. $7000 or more. Shouldn't Audi be responsible for the failure of this window on a car that is just 3 years old. Have other people had this problem and do you know of any recourse?

Answer
That seems like a lot of money for the repair.  For that kind of money you should be able to get the whole car electronics replaced...  Since this was obviously an accident, you could try your car insurance company; it is actually a type of flooding damage.  Also try writing to Audi to see if they are prepared to help you, I wouldn't threaten them since they probably don't HAVE to help you, but they MIGHT...  Let me know how you get on,  Jan
