Audi Repair: 1999 audi A4 DRL conversion, daytime running light, anchor bolt

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I want to thank you first of all for doing this, you are saving everyones life basically.
I have a newly imported 99' A4 Quattro (B5 style) and want to do a Daytime Running Lights conversion to meet Canadian spec. It can't be switched through VAG-COM so is there a module I need? where is that found?
Also, I need to get a child tether bolt or something like that, do you know about this?
Thanks in advance
MM

ANSWER: Hi,  A daytime running lights modification seems fairly straightforward from the web info pages:

You need an on-board diagnostics (OBD) tool to change the lights. Select Electronics and click on Recode. You should see a 5-digit value (mine was 00013). The last digit is the daytime running light setting as follows:

1 - RDW (Rest of World): DRL=No
2 - NDL (Netherlands): DRL=Yes
3 - USA: DRL=No
4 - KAN (Canada): DRL=Yes
5 - DAN (Denmark): DRL=Yes
6 - SON (???): DRL=Yes

I first tried 00014, but the DRL feature was then using the fog lights (not the low beams). I switched to 00015 and got the desired behaviour of low beams turning on when ignition power is on.

I have no information on tether bolts, but this is an anchor bolt you should be able to get from the Audi dealer.

So try that and let me know,

Jan

QUESTION: Thanks for the ridiculously quick reply.
I have the B5 style which doesn't allow you to VAG COM the DRL conversion.
You can convert from USA-->CANADA spec but this converts all Miles to Kilometers and fahrenheit to celsius etc.
I have to hard wire something, somehow to get this DRL done.

Do you know anything about this??

Also, thanks for the tether info, I guess I will get this from an Audi dealer, (even though I don't want to pay Audi rip off prices).

Thanks in advance,
MM

Answer
OK how about these? I know this first one is for a passat, but the wiring should be similar:

Or for the Audi,  this is an option:
