Audi Repair: crank postion sensor, crankshaft position sensor, audi quatro

can you tell me where the crankshaft position sensor is located, and what it looks like 1991 Audi quatro 100.its starts for a few sec but dies. fuel pump is ok while driving the car just stopped. pleas help!!!!!! thank you

The crank position sensor is on the bell housing, which is at the back of the engine and in front of the transmission.  If the crank position sensor is bad, the fuel pump will not switch on.  I.E. the engine will not start.  Is the fuel pump the problem?  Let me knwo,  Jan
