Audi Repair: Audi TT Overheating at 30,000RPM, audi tt, white smoke

Question
Hi Jan,

Please could you help me with my problem. I own a 2003 Audi TT 150BHP, all of a sudden when i go above 30,000RPM the temprature gauge goes into the red and stays there untill i take my foot of and the Revs go down this is not instant and takes some time to level back out. The car is also drinking alot of coolant nearly a tank a week.

I will be running the following checks tonight to add to the thread.

1)Check coolant is flowing by removing the lid with the engine on to rule out a water pump issue.

Thanks in advance
Chris

Answer
If you get the engine to 30,000 rpm you will have more problems than overheating... If you are serious, then this sounds like you have a headgasket leak or a cylinder head crack.  Is there steam or white smoke coming out of the exhaust?  Let me know,  Jan
