Audi Repair: transmission slip, transmission fluid change, audi cars

Question
Hello, I just recently purchased (3 weeks ago) a 03 Allroad from a dealership.  It's a automatic with 68000 miles.  Problem is when in reverse on a incline the tansmission will not pull, the motor revs but no movement.  It pulls in reverse on a flat surface, also no problem in drive.  Took it to Audi dealer and they found no codes on the car and came to the conclusion it is something internal in the trans.  They recomend replacing the trans for $6500 thats including labor.  Question is should I just leave it alone till it goes totally out?  Would a tranmission additive like Lucas help?

Thanks
Shane

Answer
If you bought it 3 weeks ago I'd be back to that dealership in a flash and ask to speak to a manager.  There has to be some sort of assurance on thier vehicles, even if it is an '03.  The reverse problem is known with Audi cars, a transmission fluid change and filter change may be a good start, that should only cost $100 or so.  But first see what the delaership will offer you.  $6500 for an exchange unit...? They are not doing you any favors.  Let me know,  Jan
