Audi Repair: 17699 - Coolant Temp Sensor at Radiator Outlet (G83): Signal too Large, coolant temp, electrical connector

Question
I have 2002 Audi A4 1.8T quattro and I am getting this fault code:
17699 - Coolant Temp Sensor at Radiator Outlet (G83): Signal too Large
P1291 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded".

I replaced the sensor to a brand new one, clean the electrical connector with electrical spray cleaner and I still get the same code. I pulled the electrical connector out and still get the same fault code. How can I check if the circuit is good? Thanks

Answer
Are you checking the right sensor?  If you disconnect the one you changed, do you get an additional code?  If not I would check that the wires from the sensor are intact.  You can also check the connections to the sensor with a voltmeter.  Let me know,  Jan
