Audi Repair: brake light problem, brake light switch, dash panel

Question
I have a similar problem - I have an automatic which I cannot get into gear because the brake light won't disconnect on the gear shift. I have just checked my brake lights and they do not go on so I assume the brake light switch is the problem. I don't have an audi manual (lost it) but is it easy to remove the fascia and replace the switch or should I go to a garage?

Answer
You do not need to remove the facia, only the lower dash panel.  The brake light switch is usually fairly obvious on the brake pedal arm.  I would remove the switch first, check it and if faulty get a replacement.  The hardest part is getting to the switch, make sure you move the seat completely back...  Let me know,  Jan
