Audi Repair: radio codes and exact location of tcm, transmission control module, radio code

Question
QUESTION: i have a problem with my trans, i think its in limp mode or fail safe so i discont battery and now i have no radio and no codes. i would like to locate exactly where the tcm is on a 2000 a6 4.2 quattro and some how get the codes so i dont have to go to a dealer. can you assist?

ANSWER: The TCM does not have a code, only the radio does.  If your trans is in limp home mode, it is doing this for a reason, and I would strongly suggest you let an expert look at it.  With reference to a radio code, there are forums where you may be able to obain these codes, but a dealerhip will also be able to provide this; however they may charge for this service.  The codes are normally in the radio manual, so it might be worth looking for the code there.  The TCM is normally under the lower dash panel; follow the antenna wires from the radio, they will lead you to the TCM.  Let me know,  Jan

Answer
Sorry I thought you were referring to the tuner control module, which is a radio/nav accessory.  With ref. to the transmission control module; In my manual for a 200A4 with 2.7 V6 engine it states it is under the carpet on the passenger side in a black box; as you suggested.  I would imagine it is the same in yours.  Let me know,  Jan
