Audi Repair: audi a6, prestige alarm, amp meter

Question
QUESTION: Hey Jan, I havent worked on my directional switch yet, but I have another question, I put a prestige alarm with remote start in my car, but recently if I don't start my car for a couple of days it just wont start and I have to jump it, I dont think its the battery because it jumps in a second.

ANSWER: Sounds like your alarm is drawing a little too much current.  I would set it up with an amp meter in series with the battery, set the alarm with the amp meter in place and your residual current draw should be around 50mA.  Any more and you will start running down the battery in a few days...  Let me know,  Jan

QUESTION: No I didnt check the current draw, but thats probably the issue someone else also told me its the alarm, a technician installed the alarm, is there anything I can do to fix it?

Answer
By checking the current draw (or having it checked) you can confirm where the problem is.  I don't know how the alarm was installed, but if it was done by a technician I would go back to them and have them check the installation.  They should also be able to check the current draw to ensure it is within specs.  This could be a fault with the system, or a wiring fault.  Let me know,  Jan
