Audi Repair: Strange coolant warning on 97 A4 2.8, cooling system pressure tester, coolant temp

Question
Hi,

My coolant system has a very slow leaking problem since I replaced a cracked reservoir. The coolant level in the new reservoir will drop about 1cm every 2-3 weeks (daily driving), and minute traces of coolant can be seen on the parking spot. I have it checked out at two different places but they couldn't locate the position of leak, so i just add some coolant every month and all seems fine.

However, recently when I top it off I put too much and it went slightly over the "top" mark. After that filling the coolant warning light will flash every time after about 5 minutes from a cold start (when the coolant temp gauge is around the 1/4 position), it continues to flash for 10-60 sec, and then went off till next trip. The engine runs normal, the readings on oil temp and coolant temp all seems normal, and the coolant level is normal. Is it just a signal for too much coolant, or could something else be broken and needs fixing?

Thanks!

Answer
hello
I will look for leak first and fix it first.
If you see it on the parking lot , pressurize the system using cooling system pressure tester and see if it hold and where is the leak.
If the coolant level light flashes and level / temperature is OK , i will thing about faulty sensor.
But ,you have fix any leaks first.
good luck                     pltech
