Audi Repair: brakes, abs light, 8t

hi i have a 1999 audi a4 1.8t quattro and the abs light has come on while i was driving down the road and the brake light was flashing.when i got out my rear rotor was smoking . what might be wrong? thanks

I have seen many bad abs modules on older A4 and A6. Every time when module looses communication ABS light stays ON and brake light is flashing. Sometime is OK , but madule  is going bad.
Smokink brakes , make sure whey not locking and they release when not braking,
