Audi Repair: headlights stopped working, fuse panel, fuse box

my 1999 a4 left me in the dark last night...No headlights except by holding
forward the signal arm (bright), which i had to do for the 50mi ride down the
mountain.  anyway, is it a fuse?  and if so, how do I open the fuse panel by
drivers side door???

I do not think it's a fuse. A4 has 2 fuses 1 for left and 1 for right side. Most like it , you have ignition problem
(try to move the key when car is ON , and see if lights come on) or switch went bad.
Start by checking the fuses and power at lights
Use car key to pry out fuse box cover , there is a small cut out in the cover
