Audi Repair: fuel pump // fuse, fuel pump relay, gauge works

Question
audi a4 avant
1.8 20v petrol
1998
134,000 miles
Not Modified/non turbo

hi greg

sorry i been so long replying, and thx again for all your help,

my alarm L.E.D's wasnt working because the trunk switch was faulty ive now replaced the switch and alarm is workin fine aswell as L.E.D's working on both front doors thank you sooo much:)

i still havnt got around to putting on another temp sensor to see if the gauge works but i can live with it faulty at the moment its not much of a problem,
and the fuel gauge has been working ok since i last spoke to you so i havnt replaced the fuel sender unit.

but now i have got another problem if you dont mind helping me out, my fuel pump fuse keeps blowing, i started out on my journey yesterday morning to go fishing, the lake is about 30 miles from my home, everything was ok until i got up to about 50mph and then the car will instantly die (blown fuel pump fuse) i ended up replacing the fuse 5 times before i arrived at the lake. (no fault codes in vag-com for fuel pump)

do you think it could be the fuel pump relay? or will it be the fuel pump on its way out?

also i had the cambelt changed last week, and when i connected the car to vag-com today to see if the fuel pump had thrown any fault codes i got this >>

VAG-COM Version: Release  311.2-N

Control Module Part Number: 8D0 907 558 T
 Component and/or Version: 1,8L R4/5V  MOTR HS D01
          Software Coding: 04001
           Work Shop Code: WSC 06325

Faults Found:
01120 - Camshaft Adjustment 1
       04-00 - Mechanical Malfunction

this fault has only appeared since i had the cambelt changed, i cleared the code then took the car for a 10 min drive then got back home and scanned again for fault codes, and it came up again, have you any idea what can be causing this fault?

the engine is running fine, no problems other than the fuel pump.

any help would be much appreciated

thanks again greg i dont know what i would do without you, cheers:))

Answer
Hi!
If Fuel pump goes bad usually it just stop working and you stuck somewhere for good. You have high resistence somewhere.... but where it's hard to tell. Very possible relay and that's where I start.
I forgot check for you on that check engine fault , I will try not to do that tomorow and write you back , but make sure that your sensor is connected (not loose)
good luck
