I have a 2003 Ford explorer sport trac, my SRS light is on. When it comes on, it flashes a sequence of 4-2. Does this tell u what to look at.

Yes, the code 42 is a specific fault code on Ford vehicles...each vehicle being unique.  Here is the description of that fault.:
B2296 42 Restraint System — Impact Sensor Status (Front Impact Severity Sensor Circuit Fault)

Once you determine if it is in fact the sensor or the wiring to it, and correct the problem, this vehicle should reset itself and the light should go out.
