Auto Airbag System Repair: 2005 ford taurus, 2005 ford taurus, passenger airbag

Without being hit my taurus passenger airbag went off. Could you tell me if you heard about this happening before.

Answer
This situation is more common than you would care to imagine.  I hope no one was injured.  The wiring for this component is obviously behind the dash.  If anyone has installed an aftermarket radio, or accessed the wiring in the dash, it may have affected this circuit.  Otherwise, often moisture or water damage to the control unit mounted on the floor can cause this to happen.  
There are companies (ours is one of them  www.airbaginvestigations.com) that do investigations for the cause behind this accidental deployment, but the costs can run upwards of $2500 to find the answers.  Unless someone was injured or it resulted in an accident, it usually does not pay to have an investigation performed.
