Auto Airbag System Repair: 2006 GMC Sierra air bag fault code BO103, gmc sierra, sierra air

Question
QUESTION: Wondering where front sensor #2 is located? Also how to diagnose issue for fault BO103?

ANSWER: Hi Josh:

You have 2 front sensors on your vehicle, located on the front cross-member.  Usually, the left (driver) side is # 1 and the passenger side is # 2.
Here is the definition for your code:

B0103 Valid ID Message Is Not Received Within Five Seconds Of Front Impact Sensor Being Powered
Up

so it looks like you just need to replace the sensor.  If per chance replacing the left side does not cure the problem, then switch it and replace the right one instead.  They are the same sensor.

Good luck
Doug

QUESTION: Do I have to disarm the system to do this repair?  If so how is that done?

Answer
Hi again Josh:
All of this is the type of information a subscription to our database will provide you...codes, locations, how to disable, etc.

Here is a link to the disable as I don;t want you to get hurt.
