I got this car about 2 years ago and the battery light randomly comes on. Sometimes frequently for a week and sometimes it won't happen for a few months. A while ago I was driving and the radio died then the battery light came on, then my srs light, gas light, and my tachs stopped working and I lost complete power in the car. After I shut it off and tried to start it again it would not turn back on. I waited a day and it started fine. I took it to my mechanic and he said the mitsubishi dealership said it was my voltage regulator which seemed to fix the problem except a few months later the battery light started coming on again. Again not a problem for a while. Then one day it started again. Radio off, all lights on, tachs stopped working and car would not accelerate and again would not start again after turned off. I took it again to the mechanic and he said he could not figure out what was wrong with it. He said he hooked it up to a machine and nothing came up. This was back in spring and then the battery light would start coming on again. Anyways I was driving to work the other day and the radio turned off and then the battery light came on, the srs and the gas light so I knew the car was going to shut down. So I was trying to drive as far as possible so I turned off my heat to draw less power and then I turned off my lights and as soon as I did that the gas light went out and then one by one every other light and my radio came back on. We can not figure out what's wrong with it. I found it very odd that my abs light is on 90% of the time and that morning when i turned off my lights and my dash started clearing out my abs light went out too. Could it be my computer or what else could it be?

The first thing i am thinking is that there is definitely a problem with the vehicle computer.  So i would have it checked by a certified mechanic or mitsubishi dealer.

ALSO, there is a mandatory recall for your vehicle (2002 Mitsubishi Diamante VR X.  The recall is on, none the less, the electrical wiring system in the engine compartment, contact your local dealer to have the mandated service provided immediately, as that could most likely be the source of your problem.  This service is free, its a recall from mitsubishi so the dealer should not charge you for it, if they do or try to contact mitsubishi directly at 1-800-222-0037.

Incase the dealer asks the recall ID number is:  Recall ID# 52316
