Auto Electronics: Fuel pump/pw wont work, fuse block, buick lesabre

Question
I have a 1997 Buick Lesabre 3.8 and when you turn the ignition on, I have no power to the fuel pump and the power windows will not work. I swapped the relays in the engine compartment and no change. I tried starting later and had power until the engine started for about 20 seconds. Is there a fusible link somewhere?

Answer
Bert, there are no fusible links that would cause this problem. This sounds like either a pass-key anti theft system problem or a defective ignition switch. If the security light is flashing during cranking, then it is an anti theft fault. Losing both the fuel pump and power windows at the same time, makes me think ignition switch. Next time it happens, wiggle the key in the ignition cylinder and see if power is restored. Voltage testing will need to be done to verify the problem and fix it. Other possibilities include corroded under hood max fuse block connection or battery feed cables. Don.
