Hi,

You do have a serious problem here. You need to pull the tank whether the engine has been running or not. If not, the job is a little easier and less expensive. Hopefully the tank is close to empty. You need to drop the fuel tank and get rid of all the fuel. Reinstall the tank. Put 2 gallons new gas in the tank. Get a can of heat. Put about 1/4 can of the heat in.
Start the engine and let it run for about 15 min. If the engine runs good, fill the tank and put the rest of the can of heat in. You should be good to go.

If the engine was running with this contaminated fuel--You will also need to change the fuel filter and have the fuel lines to the engine air blown.
You cannot attempt to use more than one can of heat because it will damage seals in the fuel system if used more than recommended and no a can of heat will not remove a gallon of water.

Hopefully you did not damage the injectors and you should be OK if you caught it that fast.

Now, if this was an act of vandalism and you have comprehensive insurance, this would be considered a claim. However if you did it, it would not.

There is no "quick" fix here. That much water in the fuel tank has contaminated all the gasoline in there. What you need to worry about is future damage known as rust in the fuel delivery sysem if the engine ran like this.

If you use one f the two processes I laid out, hopefully you will be OK.

Good luck!

I am a master at auto theft claims resolution when insurance companies target an insured accused of being involved in the theft on vehicles deemed to be "unstealable." Many carriers use what is known to be a "Forensic locksmith" that can purportedly determine the last key used. This process has been successfully undermined as it should be, because such a conclusion is deceitful and does not portray any semblance to fact. Insurance carriers use this forensic report as the smoking gun to illustrate the insured was the last one to inert the ignition key.
We prepare insureds for the investigation and EUO (Examination Under Oath) far better than attorneys can do, being as we have been doing this and serving as expert witnesses over 2 decades exclusively on this subject.
When the insured feels accused, the knee-jerk reaction is to get an attorney. This is an investigation and not a court matter at this time. Attorneys have no standing to assist in an investigation unless of course the insured is guilty of a crime.
There is a time an place for attorneys, but an auto theft investigation is not that time, where we are the only answer.
Check out our website, and if you are a victim of a stolen vehicle, do not be a victim again by the insurance company that is facilitating fraud by the use of a forensic locksmith in their fraud investigation.
