thanks for your answer, do you remember if the main control on the dash shut the compressor off when you rotate the temp dial or slide the arm for eco, high, bi level or is there a relay,
I traced the wire from compressor and I believed they go direct to the main control on dash, I just fixed the heat problem the vacuum sensor under dash in black box I think it called main heater control was not pulling in vacuum module thanks

I really do not remember that. Wow, 39 years ago, and I remember these things when they were new. One other thing I do remember from 1974. We were instructed to remove the starter interlock on them as all GMs from the factory had the interlock with 25 pounds of weight being required on the seat to prevent the engine from starting when the seat belt wasn't buckled. Last year without catalytic converter that ran on regular. Last year for points and HEI was introduced in 1975. Boy is that a lot of stupid crap I remember from 1974.

If you do not have one, try to get a factory service manual from Ebay or craigs. That way you are not working in the blind.
