Cadillac Repair: caddy wont stay running, Rob Painter, Rich Pacheco

Question
2000 sls caddy starts dies out when put in drive

Answer
Hello,

These cars no longer have standard answers for a drivability problem you are referring to.With computer systems, there is no way to determine over thee Internet what is actually wrong. If someone thinks they have an answer be careful not to change perfectly good components listening to someone that says they can give you an answer. You are dealing with a symptom and not a cause.
The only way you are going to get this car fixed is have it taken to never a dealer, but a reputable repair shop with the proper diagnostic equipment to determine the exact cause. I can answer many questions, but when dealing with merely a symptom such as yours, I do not want you to waste your money trying to find the problem on a guess. It could be as simple as a broken vacuum line to as serious as a transmission, which requires the proper equipment and physically being at the vehicle.
I understand that money is tight in this economy, but I also don't want to see people throwing all sorts of money on a problem that they cannot diagnose without the proper equipment.

My last questioner had asked on a symptom if he should replace the O2 sensor and my answer to him was like yours in which there is no way I can diagnose a drivability problem without being at the car with a diagnostic scanner. In his case, he would be changing something that may not even be defective.
I wish you luck on this. I would appreciate you writing me back and letting me know what the problem turns out being.
