QuestionHello Rob,
I have a 1991 Seville (4.9L) which to me is running perfectly o.k.
The orange 'Service Engine Soon' light has just lit up.I have read the error code which is E048 which as per my list of error codes is EGR Control Problem.
Can you please tell me what this means and what problems it is likely to cause? I live in UK so have no access to cadillac dealer or service centers.

The service engine light means the computer is not running in closed loop which will effect fuel mileage and power.
Instead of guessing, I would highly recommend going on Ebay or Craigs list to find a factory service manual. The manual will guide you through diagnoses. The problem with having the car in the UK, is that it can be very expensive to guess on what may be the problem. You should be able to find a 1991 Cadillac service manual with no problem on these sites.
