Cadillac Repair: car will not start, State Farm auto theft claim denial, State Farms forensic experts on stolen cars

Question
The alternator on my 97 Cadillac Seville SLS.  I started it with a charger and got a message about anti-theft and a message stating that engine may not start after engine shutdown, that is exactly what happened. Now the engine cranks but will not start, what can I do to fix this problem.  Northstar 4.6 engine.

Answer
Hello,

I have no idea what happened here. The no start warning from the VATS would be if it did not recognize the resistor in the key that the engine will do nothing- no cranking.

You are telling me you had the message and the engine cranks which makes no sense because these are two different symptoms.

The charger might have blown out a fuse. I don't know. You have multiple fuse panels in the car and if you consult with your owners manual, you may be able to determine where the fuse boxes are..

All I am saying is that you have multiple issues here because that waning of not starting again only goes to the vats which has got a starter interlock which will cause the engine not to crank.
