Cadillac Repair: charging system, auto theft siu claim investigation euo denial expert, forensic ignition consultant

Question
I have a 1997 cadillac sedan deville concours. I recently began having problems with the charging system. when it first started it would overheat and gradually cut out. had  it tested at the auto parts store, they said alternator. replaced the alternator AND the battery and it ran fine all day and evening. this morning I went to start it and it barely even clicked. for an hour or so after attempting to start it the inadvert power relay would  click rapidly for 30 second or so at random intervals while turning the key did nothing. no radio, no dash lights nothing.that's where im at. thank you

Answer
Hello,

Unfortunately, and there are many of you to save money, go too a parts store to diagnose and electrical problem. These are parts changers and don't know how to diagnose anything. So those that think they saved money, didn't because the issue is still there.

The first thing I would do is relocate the body ground and see what you have then. The ground comes from the battery to the frame. Drill a hole 6" back on the frame. Scrape to bare metal and mount the neg cable there. If that fixes the problem, you now know you wasted the money for the alternator and battery.
