Cadillac Repair: charging system service, mark ames, a-i forensic lock

Question
I bought a 96 seville sls with the northstar yesterday.  I drove it 30 mins to a car wash and the car wouldnt start when i was done.  Took out the battery and had it charged...car started up and drove home 20 mins .  Turned off the car...wouldnt start.  Had battery tested again...bad battery, bought new one.  Drove the car for 30 mins earlier today, nothing wrong.  Took the car out later and drove maybe 5 mins when the on board showed service charging system and battery low volts.  Turned around and made it home and turned it off.  Tried to start but would not...where do i go from here?  What needs to be checked next?

Answer
Hi,

Alternator for some reason is not putting out. Check your frame ground first on the passenger frame rail in the engine compartment. Check gauge fuse (See owners manual for multiple fuse boxes). Check belt.

Sounds like alternator wasn't charging in the fist place and that could explain bad battery as well.

You should put a meter on both cables and engine idling-minimum of 13.2 volts. If alternator is charging with engine running, you will hear a scream from it.

Let me know what happens.
