Cadillac Repair: Question about my 2004 Cadillac Deville, New orleans forensic locksmith, arc forensics

Question
I am having a problem with my AC, when I first got it used a year ago, it worked just fine about a week after I bought my car The AC stopped working up front It wont even come out of the vents, so you can imagine during the winter my defrost is almost non existant. Every now and then when its extremely windy and I'm driving into the wind it will sometimes blow out the vent either heat or AC whatever its set to.

I have no idea what it could be or how much it might cost to fix, so if you could help me in anyway I would be so grateful thank you.

Also I dont know if you need to know or not but I currently have just hit 100,000 miles so I'm aware that all kinds of things are bound to start going wrong now.

Answer
Hi Sara,

It sounds like from your description, that the heater, A/C blower is not working. Something Cadillac is notorious for.

In A/C mode on high, that air should be hitting your face. On defrost, you should feel the air deflecting from the inside windshield and in heat mode on high you should feel the air rushing on the floor.

You may have the blower control on high, but it sounds like the blower is not functioning.

If you have someone mechanically inclined and knows how to use a test light, this can be diagnosed easily, but the cost of the correct repair could be steep if you need the resistor module, unless you can find a good one used.

You need someone to disconnect the blower wire on the passenger side under the hood to see if you are getting power. If so, it needs a module.

The very first simple thing I would do is get the owners manual out. Find the fuse box locations and check the fuse that says heater or blower. If that is burned out change it and see if you have the blower motor working.
Otherwise someone will need to check for power under the hood.

Good luck and if you need more specific info after you have checked these two things out, please feel free to write back.

Good Luck!
