Question
my car computer keeps giving me this code and I don't know what it means, do you??? the car was running great down the freeway and the motor just shut off. The motor turns over and sounds just fine. I've got no spark and no fuel coming out the fuel injectors when i turn it over? I've changed the: plug wires, plugs, cap, rotor, ignition module, coil, and the fuel filter. After I did all that I still had the same out come, no spark no fuel! Then i found out that the car had a built-in- computer in the dash, by pushing the "off button" and the "warmer button" on the climate control it will turn on and give you codes. So when I did that it gave me the code 0.7.0   that code isn't listed in my book. Can you help cause now I'm lost. Thanks for all your help.          James Thatcher AKA          "GreenWrencher"

Answer
Hello,

They are a nice car. I have had many Eldos of that vintage. The first problem is that compunter system was last used in 1993, and the one in your car still had bugs in it, because the first time GM started using computers was the last half of 1980.

Your first problem is that you have been chasing ghosts. In other words trying to replace perfectly good parts on a guess, and like you said, you did not even realized there was a computer in it.
The problem with the on board diagnostics back then is they were very general. A code would give you a general direction to look in, but could not pin point the problem.
Now, I worked on these new and don't remember a code such as that. I remember a 13-O2 sensor-34-Map sensor and things like that, but never a 0.7.0. Unless that might be for the heater/A/C computer. That car had numerous computers in it.
Look below the steering column under the dash for a computer port. Don't remember if you will find on the Cadillac, but all other GMs had it. Now, I do not remember anymore what terminals had to be crossed, but you would use a paper clip for expediency, with the key on. The check engine light would say flash a long flash once and three short flashes and that would be a code 13.

It's been so long and I remember something on the Cadillacs of the process you speak of two, but I am wondering if its got the computer port sticking out of the black plastic hush panel below the dash, so you could test like any other GM.

Secondly, you say you have a book. What book? 1983 Cadillac Eldorado/Seville service manual,or are you using a general book like a Haynes or Chilton. Shop manual is required which can be found on Ebay or Craigs. Anything less is a waste of time.

Have you checked all your fuses with a test light or meter? If the ECM fuse is blown, you will not have fuel or spark.

The ECM (located either in the right kick panel or above the black lower dash hush panel on passenger side or near right rear firewall).

From your description, I am really wondering about the fuse, or the wiring coming loose at the ECM coming loose some how. ECM controls everything for fuel and spark. It is your brain. That could have fried, or the eprom inside of it. Or it could have been a crucial sensor that failed, like the crankshaft sensor.
I am sorry I can't tell you what the 0.7.0 is, but if that number had significance, it would be in the factory service manual.
