Question
QUESTION: when i turn on the radio the ant goes up but the sound is ditorted sounds like wires touching together i checked every thing intrunk un pluged wires from each speaker and no difference any clue what it could be ?? thx

ANSWER: Hello,

You are dealing with a 19 year old car and parts are not available for this BOSE stereo. If your noise only happens with antenna extending or extended, I would suggest unplugging the antenna when it is in the full up position.

Half the time these antennas don't work anyway and are left in the up position.

If this removes the noise, you are all set.

QUESTION: it makes the noise as soon as you turn on the radio, someone told me it could have something to do with the antitheft ??

Answer
Hello.

First of all, there is no way that the ignition based anti-theft system known as VATS or PASSKEY can be related to stereo noise.

I do stipulate however if the lights are flashing and the horn disconnected is osculating from a factory installed dysfunctional alarm which is not an anti-theft system, because the car can be driven with the horn blaring and the lights flashing. Not much of a system that was an option in 1992 on this car.

I also stipulate if the car has some after market alarm in it where the parking lights should be flashing and a siren should be sounding. No one knows what is in this car. If you want to listen to "someone" and believe an alarm of some sort is affecting the stereo and since I can't hear the noise you refer to, and for the benefit of the doubt, here is what you can do:

Remove the stereo from dash. On the stereo unit either on top or underneath, it will show you the terminal plugs and where the wires go.

Here is what you can do-cut the switched radio power wire (not too short that you can't put it back together). Cut the stereo memory wire.

I am not nuts about these installations, but they will do the trick. Run 14 gauge wire to another switched wire (key on) on the fuse box, preferably not the wipers or heater because of interference. You may even want to go under the dash to wires coming out of the electrical ignition switch (not the key lock cylinder) using a test light and a scotch lock connector and tape. A test light will tell you what wires are switched. In your new wire leading to stereo plug install an in line fuse holder with a 10 amp fuse.

For your memory power go to constant power either on fuse block or under dash. Install an inline fuse holder with a 5 amp fuse on your new wire going into stereo plug. This is the only two wires you do this to!

You have now bypassed the factory wiring to the stereo head and that should do it.

Keep in mind, different from a regular stereo, the BOSE speakers are powered. You do not want to start playing with these!

If rewiring the memory and switched power does not work, in order to save a lot of headache, you are better off exchanging the speakers with new ones (not powered) and a new head unit.

This system is not worth screwing with. These units new were known to be problematic and there is no one out there that can repair that ancient technology. Parts are no longer available and I even remember back then swapping these BOSE systems out for aftermarket.

Unfortunately, I am not there to hear the noise and I am limited to what you describe. If the wiring does not make a difference, I strongly recommend the after market speakers and head unit. If this vehicle only has the VATS and no alarm, ":Someone" does not have a clue as to what he is talking about.

At the dealer, the after market alarm was blamed for everything including engine running problems and transmission shifting problems. Unbelievable! When something did not work right in the vehicle, the factory ignition based factory so-called "anti-theft" system was blamed due to ignorance as to how the system worked. There is no way that resistor pellet (commonly mis-characterized as computer chip) can affect the stereo system in an adverse way.

Good luck and let me know if rewiring the stereo worked.
