Cadillac Repair: 2000 Cadillac Seville SLS shuts off while driving, Newark plainiffs forensic locksmith, cleveland criminal defense forensic locksmith

Question
My Cadillac in the last few days just shuts off while I am driving it. It is scary because the wheel locks. The battery symbol flashes before it shuts off. I had the battery checked and it is still good. What else can it be?I can't afford to take it somewhere to be scammed again. I have had plenty of work done on the car as far as Catalytic converter, coil pack, spark plugs. Now I wonder what is this. When I drive the car does seem to pull from time to time . How to explain... Like it wants to go faster. I will be driving down the street and I see the rpm line jump and the car jumps forward. What is going on.

Answer
Hello,

First of all, your steering is designed not to lock driving down the road as you put it. Once the engine stalls, the power assist no longer functions and the wheel is more difficult to turn. Even on the older steering columns dating as far back as 1969, by design, they could not lock the steering wheel unless the column locking mechanisms were defeated due to a theft event.

I am telling you this so you don't completely panic when the engine stalls, so you realize the wheel does not lock and that it just requires much more effort to turn.

Now, you state all the components that were replaced, but you did not say why. Were these parts changed because the engine stalled or that the RPM's fluctuated?

Or, did you not have the stalling before these components were replaced?

Did you have the problem intermittently and these components were replaced on a guess from the mechanic?

At this time, until I get these answers, you are asking me to answer a question that could have literally thousands of different causes and without physically being at the car, it would be irresponsible for you to even offer a suggestion that might remotely be close to a correct diagnoses.

There are far too many parts changers out there that call themselves mechanics and any mechanic fixing an intermittent problem on a guess is not only a fool because he basically marries the car, will live with the problem for life, and the owner will never be happy.

What makes me nervous in even giving you a general answer, the parts replaced could be consistent with your complaint and makes me wonder if the engine stalling only happens at times and the mechanic is trying to guess his way to the fix at your expense.

I can't even begin to help you if you don't answer my questions.
