Cadillac Repair: SQUEAKING AT REAR, plaintiff automotive forensic expert, plaintiff ignition expert

Question
squeaks coming from the right rear side of my 1996 deville can you tell me the problem and how to fix the problem

Answer
Hello,

The worst thing to do when physically at the vehicle is to repair a squeak. Noise travels and what you think you have coming from the right rear may be a problem in the left front.

When road testing for a squeak, it can be very tedious and frustrating to find it.

Are squeaks common complaints on Cadillacs? No.

Trying to diagnose such a problem causing a squeak, it is darn near impossible.

Its like "how much to fix my dent?" on the Internet.

One question that is very important-Was this car ever wrecked and repaired?

The squeak needs to be isolated. If you have the car parked, can you bounce the rear of the car by putting your knees on the bumper. Do you still hear the noise?

If so have someone else looking under the car while it is being bounced listening and looking for anything that shows unusual wear marks like the exhaust hitting the frame.

You could have a defective shock absorber. Try spraying the shafts with WD 40 or oil.

Something is rubbing or something needs some type of lubrication in the suspension.

Good Luck on your search!
