Cadillac Repair: 99 cadillac deville wont stay running?, Chicago forensic locksmith, allstate bad faith

Question
i have a 99 cadillac deville and i recently got my battery changed and when the place put the new battery in my car will start for a brief second but cut it's self off for some reason. I was told it might have to push a fuel pump over-ride button but i dont know where it is located on the car to push. Any idea's on why it wont stay started up or do you know where the fuel pump over- ride button is located on this car? Thank you for your time!!!

Answer
Hello,

Changing the battery should have nothing to do with an emercecy fuel shut off. Even though I am very familiar with GM vehicles, I have never seen such an issue on them, however I am very familiar with this button on Fords. It was designed for rear end collisions dating back to their bomb the "Pinto."

i do not know if your Cadillac even has such a switch, but it did, it would probably be located under the dash, carpet or at the kick panel at the passenger side. I have never seen one on a GM car.

Someone might tell you it may be the anti theft system as well, and I can assure you it isn't because the engine will not crank.

The problem I have in assisting you is that I am not at the vehicle. Your problem can be fuel, but it can be electric/electronic as well.

Who knows? Maybe they blew the computer fuse(s). You need to check all fuses at both fuse boxes before doing anything else. Are all leads hooked to the battery?

What makes it easier to diagnose is that the engine ran before the battery was replaced. This way you can work backwards eliminating what could have gone wrong since.

I would be looking for something not reattached to the battery and checking the fuses.

Let me know what you find.
