Cadillac Repair: Starting Issue, cadillac deville, positive cable

Well i have a 1994 cadillac deville 4.9l that wont start. It used to make this clicking sound everytime i turned the key to start it it would take bout 4 to 6 tries before it would start. Now it doesnt even click. The only way i can get it to start is if i jump the battery. the lights and the speedometer everything comes on but it just wont start, unless i jump it. What can be ghe problem. Starter? Any help will be aprishiated. thanks.

I spent a lot of time pondering this.
If the starter was bad, I would not think jumping the battery would  make ang difference and if the starter was drawing over 350 amps, I would be expecting you to tell me by doing this, that you would see the positive cable smoking.

Wuth all that considered I think you have either a bad battery or an alternator that is not charging. Check the battery first.
